A day at the beach
Presentation
With 6 km of golden sand on a blue background and almost 320 days of sunshine a year, Marseillan's reputation is well established. The seaside resort even has one of the major assets of the Thau Archipelago: it offers holidaymakers the choice of enjoying the view of the oyster beds or the iodised air of the Mediterranean Sea. So many reasons to visit this charming town!
The Rieu beach
On the port side of the town is the charming beach of Le Rieu... Ideal if you spend your holidays at a campsite as many of them offer their guests direct access to the beach. Among them, you will find the Beach Garden campsite, the Dune et Soleil, La Créole, the Beauregard...
A little further west, in the town of Cap d'Agde, nudists can enjoy their holiday on the beach dedicated to them.
The beach of Honour
Still on the port side of the Pisse Saumes canal is the plage d'Honneur. It is THE beach of Marseillan for various reasons:
- Its proximity to the port and therefore to the leisure activities,
- Its promenade (ideal at sunset),
- Its access to the Avenue de la Méditerranée,
- Its audio beach set up for people with disabilities,
- The two "private" beaches with deckchair rental offered at the Mosquito Beach and Marina Bay straw huts,
- ...
The beaches of Robinson and the Dunes
If you want to be closer to Mother Nature during your day at the beach and/or you are simply looking for some peace and quiet, we invite you to spread your towel on the beaches of Robinson and Dunes.
Located on the other side of the Pisse Saumes canal, there are only two campsites (Le Robinson and Le Paradou), one hotel (Des Dunes), and only one establishment offering a "private" beach and deckchair hire (Le Cap Horn).
A little extra: Dog owners will be able to walk along it to the 72/73 accesses of the Vassal beach in Sète and let their pet roam freely along the sea.
Water sports activities
As mentioned in point 2, the Plage d'Honneur is well known for its proximity to the port of Marseillan, as it is here that the majority of leisure activities providers offer their services.
So, if you want to try kitesurfing, parasailing, diving... or if you simply want to rent a stand-up paddle or a canoe with your family/couple, go to the docks with our various partners.
Practical information
For the safety of your children, you will find 5 first aid posts all along the three beaches, which are open from mid-June to mid-September. They are also equipped with a sling for people with reduced mobility.
La Plagette
In Marseillan-Ville, you can also go to the beach or more precisely to La Plagette. With an unobstructed view of the Thau lagoon, this is an ideal place for children to play and fish for crabs.
There is a playground, a skatepark, several picnic tables, barbecues and the area is famous for its small shells and seafood, which are easy for children to collect.
